Editor David Porter: "We offer our deepest condolences to Gillian and the family following the announcement of Paul's passing.

"For many years his work has been integral to local journalism in the north-east and not least in the Garioch where he was a familiar face to so many, be it at sporting events through to community celebrations, donation hand-overs and everything newsworthy in the area.

"His social and personal contacts made him an invaluable source of information which he was only to happy to share and he will be sorely missed by all."

The thoughts were echoed by Inverurie Loco Works FC with whom he also had a long association.

The commented: "We're deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul Douglas.

"For many years Paul has been an integral part of the Locos Management Committee and was continuing to keep up to date with proceedings as late as last week.

"Extremely well known and knowledgeable of football and all sports activities within the Garioch, Paul was always forward thinking and thought that everything was possible, however difficult it may be.

"Of course latterly, Paul was best known for his fantastic photography work and we would doubt if any household in the area does not have a picture taken by Paul on their wall, in their scrapbook or on their phone, of a hugely important moment in their life.

"We all owe Paul a great debt of gratitude for recording our memories so vividly.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gillian and family at this sad time.”
