Several north-east congregations have taken a cautious approach to this including Cluny and Monymusk Parish Church who have said this week that they are not ready to open back up again.

In a statement posted via social media a spokesperson for the church said: "The Church will review the situation with more information on when we are reopening in mid to late August.

"With the social distancing rules in place this meant that the most both churches could fit in each building would be around 12 people.

"The church still has planning to do before reopening including building surveys, risk assessments and planning strict cleaning schedules before and after each service has taken place.

"We are sorry about this but it is important that we keep our worshippers safe for this is still a dangerous disease and we do look forward to welcoming folk to worship as soon as we think it is safe for us to do so."
