At both National 5 and Higher, 95 per cent of all results were grade A to C with 90 per cent at Advanced Higher.

Incredibly, 85.4 per cent of pupils in S4 achieved eight National 5s, and 78 per cent of S5 pupils gained five Highers.

Dance Captain and debater Darcey McDonald, S6, from Kintore, reflected on her time at Robert Gordon’s College before attending the University of Oxford to read Law.

She said: “The last few months have not been what we were expecting - it was tough not to be able to draw my time at RGC to a close in the traditional manner.

"However receiving results today has been great closure to my S6.

"Robert Gordon’s College has pushed me to be the best version of myself and has really helped me to develop my mindset and confidence.”

Encouraged by a teacher, Toni Dawson a fellow S6, from Sauchen, soon found a love for Journalism, taking her on a career path she had never imagined.

Toni said: “I am delighted with my results this year and looking forward to studying Multimedia Journalism, a course I had never considered until more recently.

" In S5 I was encouraged to take part in the BBC Young Reporters competition by my Higher English teacher.

"It was this experience that changed my future.

"The College supported me through a week of work experience at STV studios in Aberdeen, and then later provided me with more media related work experience on BBC’s Debate Night when it was recorded live in Aberdeen.

"During S6 I took part in a journalism enhancement course at the College.

Balancing volunteering with studying six Highers, Robert Kennedy, S5, from Methlick said: “S5 was an extremely busy time for me.

" I juggled taking an additional Higher with part-time jobs and volunteering in the local community, as well as extra-curricular endeavours.

"I am continuing studies in English, Chemistry and Mathematics, as well as picking up Higher Physics in what will be a jam-packed final year at the College.

"Looking ahead, I intend to read Maths and Chemistry at University as a joint honours degree.”

Robin Macpherson, Head of Robert Gordon’s College shared: “We’re delighted to congratulate our senior pupils on their SQA results.

"They should feel very proud of what they’ve achieved when you consider everything that’s happened this year.

" We’re feeling extremely proud of our pupils.

"Exam years are always stressful, but this year pupils have had to face obstacles more than any year group ever have before."

“Staff at Gordon’s who have been on this unprecedented exam journey with pupils are especially proud.

"They have supported pupils emotionally and intellectually throughout their time at school, and especially so during the period of Covid-19.

" We are truly amazed to see how pupils have handled adversity, and it has not been the same without pupils and teachers together physically in the classroom.

"We are looking forward to welcoming back all pupils in just over two weeks’ time.”
