Moray Ostomates was set up a number of years ago to provide support, advice and friendship for people going through similar journeys.

The aim is for people to come together along with family and friends to share experiences and offer mutual support.

The group also arranges for companies who supply products and information to come and let the group members see any new products and allow them to try samples and give advice if necessary.

A colostomy is an operation to divert one end of the colon (part of the bowel) through an opening in the tummy. Similarly, an ileostomy is where the small bowel (small intestine) is diverted through an opening in the tummy.

And a urostomy is an opening in the belly that's made during surgery. It re-directs urine away from a bladder that's diseased, has been injured, or isn't working as it should.

Moray Ostomates meet on the first Saturday of every month at The Oaks on Morriston Road, in Elgin.

Tea, coffee, biscuits and chat are an integral part of membership.

If you would like to find out more about the group then phone Hazel on 01309 641400.
