Maud Museum opens this weekend, August 6 and 7, from 10.30am to 4pm.

The museum offers an insight into former railways of Buchan through a selection of photographs and displays as well as a prison carriage which used to transport convicts from Peterhead to Stirlinghill Quarry.

The passenger-carrying miniature railway will be operational alongside the former Fraserburgh line platform weather permitting.

The display on the Great War airship base near Longside may also be of interest to some visitors.

The museum is always on the look out for material to include in future displays, and is particularly looking for photographs of livestock and agricultural produce and machinery being loaded and unloaded at Maud Station or other stations in Buchan.

Indeed any family photographs of railways and railwaymen in north east Scotland can be scanned and returned.

The museum will next open on August 20 and 21.
