Aberdeenshire Council is seeking feedback from the public on a proposed shared-use cycle and pedestrian path in Ellon.

Aberdeenshire Council is seeking feedback on a new path scheme.

The survey is intended for those who live, work, or visit Ellon and is meant to gauge opinion on the proposal and develop a better understanding of any changes to travel patterns that have occurred as a result of Covid-19.

The proposed shared-use path would be placed through Caroline’s Well Woods, linking homes in the north of Ellon to the town centre.

With no formal path currently in place, this 200-metre link would create a quicker and shorter route to town.

The path would not require any felling of mature trees.

It would also be at a gradient of 5 per cent, which is a design requirement for all wheeled users, and 3 metres wide throughout.

In addition, the path would support the award-winning (2019 awards at both Scottish and National Transport Awards) Integrated Travel Town masterplan for Ellon, with aspirations to create more healthy and sustainable access across town.

Head of Transportation at Aberdeenshire Council, Ewan Wallace said: “We appreciate that Covid-19 has changed commuting for many residents. With this survey, we hope to gain a better understanding of these changes and how they have affected travel patterns in the Ellon community.

“I encourage the public to provide their feedback on this proposal so we can continue to develop safe and efficient travel routes for all residents.”

The survey closes on August 30 and can be completed here: https://tinyurl.com/yyvj5eoz
