North East Scotland College (NESCol) is holding a virtual open day on Wednesday December 1.

The event is aimed at anyone interested in studying a full-time course at the college starting in 2022 including those who have been out of education for a number of years, school leavers and those interested in retraining.

Held online, this event will be the first chance for members of the public to find out which courses will be on offer next summer with applications being accepted for these for the first time on the day.

Academic staff from across the college will be available throughout the event to answer questions about the wide range of full-time courses starting in February as well as August.

Attendees will also be able to learn more about the college’s three main campuses located in Aberdeen and Fraserburgh as well as the Scottish Maritime Academy in Peterhead.

Members of staff from the College’s Student Advice Centre will be on hand to help with queries related to extra support, funding and the application process.

A live question and answer session covering what to expect when you apply and the college experience from a student perspective will take place at 5.30pm.

Representatives from local universities will also be in attendance to give information on progression after college and those interested in studying at HNC or HND level (SCQF Level 7 and above) should come along to chat to a representative from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).

Principal of NESCol Neil Cowie said: “Our open days are an excellent opportunity for prospective students to find out more about the college and to get a flavour of the engaging and nurturing environment across all of our campuses.

"Whether as a school leaver choosing the next step or an adult returner aiming to retrain and upskill, it’s important to have the chance to talk in more detail about the exciting pathways we offer.

“College teams and partner organisations look forward to welcoming all those who join us for this virtual event.

"They are working hard to ensure that this is a really positive experience for everyone looking to Start their Story at NESCol in 2022.”

The event will take place on a drop-in basis from 3–7pm on December 1.
