The crew of a Peterhead fishing trawler had to be rescued yesterday after it capsized off the Norwegian coast.

On Sunday afternoon HRS Sor-Norge - the land, sea and air rescue centre for southern Norway - reported: "The fishing boat Njord has crashed in the North Sea about 100NM west of Stavanger.

"HRS received an emergency signal via EPIRB at 1339UTC.

"HRS and KRS received quick assistance from SAR Helicopter Johan Sverdrup, who has hoisted up three people as well as Olympic Challenger who picked up the remaining five."

The BBC have since reported that one of the crew members airlifted to Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen later died.
