A FORMER bank premises in Keith has been sold to a locally-based bidder though an online auction.

The old Bank of Scotland building, which occupies a prominent position at the junction of Mid Street and Church Road next to the A96, went under the hammer for £70,000.

SVA Property Auction, which sold the premises through its inaugural live-streamed auction this month, believes the buyer has plans to reconfigure and repurpose the premises in a way that will ultimately benefit the local community.

The bank branch was closed last year due to an eight per cent drop in the number of customers. A new mobile service, which visits the town on Wednesdays, was launched in its place.

The building dates back to 1880.
