Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin is urging her constituents to access Inverurie based online shopping service Lokali to support businesses in Inverurie with the same convenience of ordering from the big online retailers, but with less carbon emissions and the peace of mind of spending money in the local area.

Lokali is available through its website Lokali.shop and on the Lokali app available through the App Store and Google Play, and is free to use.

As a marketplace that is built for small businesses, Lokali is also free for local businesses to register and list their goods.

On Lokali, users can easily browse local offerings such as household essentials, gifts, services, meals, toys, clothing – even treats for pets.

It’s a one stop shop to find high quality products produced by small businesses in your community, delivered to your door or ready for your collection.

Gillian Martin MSP recently met with Lokali owner, Mo Khan, to learn more about how Lokali is helping local businesses thrive and grow our local economy.

The Aberdeenshire East MSP is now encouraging residents within a five mile radius of Inverurie to download the Lokali app or visit the website for their shopping needs.

Commenting, Gillian Martin MSP said: “We all use online shopping now, but how often are we keeping it local? We’ve all got used to the convenience of Amazon and the like but I truly think a lot of people would prefer their spend to stay local.

"That’s why I’m strongly recommending everyone try Lokali – it makes it so easy to shop local through their app and website, which is putting money into our local economy and supporting our communities.”

Mo Khan, owner of the Lokali.Shop App commented: “Lokali catalogues what's available on our high streets, allowing you to search, browse and buy from your local businesses. Our aim is simple: support our communities by providing people the tool to easily shop local and keep money in our region. Doing so has enormous benefits to our civic pride, the resilience of our small businesses and a tangible alternative to the vast emissions that come from buying on global marketplaces."
