North-east man killed in crash near Croy is named

A man killed in a crash on the B9091 near Croy has been named as Peter Kennedy, who stood for the Scottish Green Party in Aberdeenshie and Aberdeen.
The 56-year-old, originally from Aberdeen, was pronounced dead at the scene after crashing a silver Kia Picanto car.
He was the only person in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the crash as around 8.10am on Sunday.
Sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts remain with Peter’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.
“If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0921 of Sunday, September 17, 2023.”
Mr Kennedy ran in the local council elections for the Hilton/Woodside/Stockethill ward in Aberdeen.
Over the years he also stood in the Mid-Formartine and Ellon and District wards in Aberdeenshire.
He took on a number of roles with the political party and previously worked with Aberdeenshire Council and other organisations.
