North-east contenders gear up for the 4th Scottish Café Awards

Across the north-east cafes are looking ahead to the 4th Scottish Café Awards which take place on Sunday, February 18.

These awards celebrate the best in the Scottish coffee industry who are the real masters of coffee.

They aim to reward the very best professionals and establishments in the cafe industry and honour those who put so much effort into providing high quality of food, snacks and hot beverages on-the-go to the costumers across the country.

Traffords Coffee House in Turriff are one of the finalists in the Unique Coffee Shop category.

Marj and Colin Chalmers will find out if they will be crowned winner and take the trophy home at a black tie ceremony that will take place this at Glasgow’s Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.

Commenting Marj said: "We are delighted and thrilled to be a finalist.

"This is all down to our wonderful customers who have nominated and supported us for the past 11 years.

"The coffee shop is also very successful due to our fabulous and hard working staff.

In total 22 Aberdeenshire businesses make the finals this year across a range of categories -

Café of the Year North - Rohaan Cafe Bar (Dyce); Nooks & Crannies (Fraserburgh); The Villa Coffee Shop (Stonehaven); The Highlanders Bakehouse (Crathie); The Chocolate Bar (Ellon); Harbour Café (Fraserburgh).

Best Loved Café of the Year North - Forest Café (Inverurie); Green Pastures Café (Westhill).

Best Themes Café - Nooks and Crannies (Fraserburgh).

Best Cafe Ambience - The Waterfront Café Bar (Stonehaven).

Best Coffee House - Dreamy Goat Coffee (Inverurie).

Best Team Café - Delgatie Castle Tea Room -(Turriff); Nooks and Crannies (Fraserburgh).

Best Community Café - Bennachie Leisure Centre Community Cafe (Insch); Green Pastures Café (Westhill).

Best Not for Profit Café - Fly Cup Catering (Inverurie); The Buzzard Café (Inverurie).

Unique Café of The Year - The Chocolate Bar (Ellon); Eli’s Cakes and Crafts (Gardenstown); Traffords Coffee House (Turriff).

Best Visitors Café - Delgatie Castle Tearoom (Turriff); Deskford Garden Galleries (Cullen).

Bakery of the Year - The Murly Tuck (Ellon).

Tearoom of the Year - Nooks & Crannies (Fraserburgh).

Deli of the Year - The Kilted Frog Delicatessen (Inverurie); Graingers Delicatessen (Stonehaven).

Café Bar of the Year - The Waterfront Café Bar (Stonehaven).

A Spokesperson for 4th Scottish Café Awards 2024 said: “We would like to thank the public for their participation in our nomination process.
