A north-east charity has announced a new date for its “fabulous funkylicious” fundraising ball, which will be held in Aberdeen later this year.

North East Sensory Services will host the event at the historic Union Kirk in the centre of the city on Friday, November 1 between 6pm and 1am.

The 1970s and 1980s themed night, which was originally due to take place in March, promises to be a fun-filled and glamorous evening of music and dancing.

Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception and a three-course dinner showcasing the best local produce, with entertainment being provided by Fraserburgh-based crooner Paul Black, who will perform top tracks from the 70s and 80s.

The night will culminate in a performance from the incredible 10-piece disco, punk and soul band Funk Connection.

The group will perform classic tunes from the Jackson 5 and James Brown to the Temptations, Sister Sledge, Chic, Stevie Wonder and KC and The Sunshine Band.

The event will raise funds for NESS, which supports thousands of blind and deaf people, and those with visual and hearing impairments, across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Dundee, Angus and Moray.

The charity’s main objective is to help people with sensory loss to live as independently as possible. Funds raised at the event will go towards the important services that NESS provides, including its social groups and activities.

These complement the charity’s statutory services and help people face and overcome challenges associated with sight or hearing loss.

Tickets cost £85 per person or can be booked in tables of 10. There are also different sponsorship packages available, ranging from gold to bronze.

For further information on sponsorship opportunities or to book tickets, visit the NESS website, email lorraine.middleton@nesensoryservices.org or call 0345 27 12345.

Lorraine Middleton, community fundraiser and events coordinator for NESS, said: “Our fabulous funkylicious ball will be the perfect way to kick off the party season in style, as our amazing acts transport us back to one of the most celebrated eras in music.

“Guests will enjoy amazing food and drinks in one of Aberdeen’s most atmospheric and unique venues, all of which points to this being a night that will live long in the memory.

“It will not only be a fun-filled evening, but will also help to raise vital funding for the services we offer to those with sensory loss.

“Our programme of fundraising events secures crucial funds for us to provide our life-changing services, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports us.”
