“I have a strong accountancy background and will help clients to better prepare for tax, whilst also developing a better tax function within SBP and bringing a fresh approach in terms of any changes in taxation.”

Managing partner John Hannah said: “Mark is a key appointment to the growing SBP team and will be responsible for creating and building a stronger tax department within the business.

“In addition to managing the department, he will also take control of all tax issues for our high net worth and corporate clients.

"This is a brilliant appointment for the business and especially for our clients and I’m looking forward to Mark’s input to strengthen the business.”

The firm, which also has offices in Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Banff, currently has 31 employees and three partners.

SBP works with a number of high-profile north-east businesses, ranging from sole traders to corporate businesses and offers a variety of tailored business and accountancy services, including personal and business taxation, as well as a dedicated business services department to cover everything including bookkeeping, VAT and payroll requirements.
