Scottish Fire and Rescue units from across Aberdeenshire were called to the Country Park Inn in Mintlaw in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a fire broke out at the premises.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.54am on Tuesday, November 21 to reports of a fire at a hotel on Station Road, Mintlaw.

“Operations Control mobilised seven appliances and a high reach appliance to the scene where crews extinguished the fire.

“No casualties were reported, and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

With the business now closed until further notice, commenting on the venue's social media page owner Fiona Weir said: "Unfortunately the Country Park Inn will be closed until further notice.

"Sadly we had a fire late last night and I am just so very grateful my family all got out safe.

"I would like to thank the fire services from Maud, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Ellon and Aberdeen and the police and paramedics who also attended - I genuinely can not express my gratitude enough to these firefighters.

"I will never stop being grateful that they contained it, they are amazing and courageous."
