A night bus service will connect Aberdeen to Ellon in the wee hours of the weekend in the run up to Christmas.

The N50 service will depart Aberdeen Bus Station at 00.30am (half past midnight), 2am and 3.30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings between December 2 and December 18.

The bus will then drop off at Balmedie and Newburgh before arriving in Ellon and concluding at Ellon Park And Ride.

As well as removing the fun-sucking worry of how to get home or the chilling queue at taxi ranks at the end of a fantastic night out, the greatest perk of all might be that, thanks to the funding of Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen City Council, passengers will not have to pay a fare to use the service.

This will run as a trial to gauge interest in the return of a late night service to the route.
