Fellow resident Norma Morris won a first prize in something new from something old for her crown she made for The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Barbara Thom got a second place for her article made in wood, which was a photo frame.

In the same category Leslie Keith won first prize and best entry in the section for a wishing well he created.

Jenny Gray won first prize for her decorated canvas and second for her landscape photo mounted on card, which was an image of the lake at Fyvie Castle. Third prize in the decorated canvas section went to Jess Hunter.

Finally, Dorothy Melia won two first prizes and a second prize for her knitted creations, which were a bagpiper, Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which also got best entry.

Sheltered housing officer Sandra Will said: "I stay in New Deer and we are keen to keep the show going.

"I helped make up the syllabus and I have a vested interest in the elderly section, so I usually like to complete the six entries along with the tenants.

"I started at Summerhill House in January and we seen that New Deer Show was going ahead. We decided to get a craft group going to see who wanted to do the entries.

"It was good for the tenants as it gave them something to focus and work on. I provided everything they needed and they just ran with it.

"We are going to keep the group running and they will give me ideas now for the next syllabus.

"The craft group has been really good for them and already they have started thinking about next year."
