A full-service radio station is set to launch in Peterhead called North East Radio Scotland.

It will feature a former radio operator and ex-presenters from the north-east area making up most of the schedule with some new voices.

The station will be up and running and on air by the start of May 2024.

North East Radio Scotland will launch in May.

It will be broadcasting live from Peterhead to the north-east area online via its website and on Freeview TV channel 277 across the whole of Scotland.

Additionally, it will be broadcasting on Sky and dab+ across Aberdeen city centre in due course and other digital online platforms.

Station owner Ronnie Arthur said: “I feel the north-east area is missing out on truly amazing great local radio.

“I believe it’s all about giving people a chance who would never get an opportunity elsewhere, as well as providing training and volunteer opportunities.

“I understand the value of being truly local, because the people and businesses really matter to me.

“We live and breathe the north-east area so we know what matters to our listeners.

“We aim to provide great local content including news, weather, traffic and events information, and to be entertained with music from the last six decades as well as specialist programmes.

“Being local and having the connection to our listeners is the reason I’ve set up North East Radio Scotland in the first place.

“I have been involved with radio from a very young age and just love all things radio.

“We are here to fill the gap that other local stations left when it ceased all local content.”

Any business or organisation which would like to get involved with the station can contact it via the Facebook page or by calling 07376400096.

The website and main contact details will be available very shortly.
