Moray Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Visit Moray Speyside, has launched a free data-collection app called Check & Protect.

The platform allows businesses in the area to securely check-in their customers and collect data in line with official guidelines to support the Scottish Government's test and protect programme.

Originally developed for use by Cairngorms Business Partnership, the app enables visitors to check into multiple venues with one simple sign-on.

The web-based dashboard allows businesses to access check-in data by venue, as well as date and time if the data is requested by NHS Scotland test and protect.

Visitor data automatically expires after 21 days and will be held by Visit Moray Speyside so visitors have confidence and individual businesses don't need to worry about data protection.

Businesses can check the number of logins on their dashboard and download the support package of QR codes, posters and flyers.

Businesses can also manually check-in guests who do not have a smartphone.

The launch of the app is just one of the elements of a campaign by Moray Chamber to support the business community.

Sarah Medcraf, chief executive of Moray Chamber of Commerce, said: “The launch of Check & Protect is for visitors, residents and businesses to easily and quickly capture data required by the Scottish Government.

"Importantly, it is free to sign up for every business in Moray and is designed to help businesses across the region reopen and operate as safely as possible.

“The app is part of our campaign to help the area ‘Open with Confidence’ with a programme of support services for the local community to enable both new and existing members to work collaboratively.

"We recently surveyed more than 500 locals and the results highlighted optimism about the reopening of Moray.

"However, the same survey showed that more than half of the public are wary about welcoming visitors back.

"With the app we hope to increase confidence levels and encourage people to welcome visitors back to our region.”

The Chamber will also provide the local business community with specially designed posters to display, which remind visitors and residents about social distancing measures.
