The new dates, announced by North East Arts Touring (NEAT) will see north east visits for a stage adaptation of beloved family favourite Steptoe and Son and dance show 6 Feet 3 Shoes.

Coming to Portgordon and Alvah, the Steptoe and Son Radio Show adapts three original episodes as well as recreating a live radio recording of the sitcom.

Put on by Hambledon Productions and the Apollo Theatre Company, adapted by John Hewer and based on original scripts by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, the show will take audiences back to the rickety rag-and-bone world of father and son double act Albert and Harold Steptoe.

Family favourite Steptoe and Son is to take audiences back to another era of TV comedy.

Announcing the run, a spokesperson for Hambledon Productions said: "The two, warring rag-and-bone-men, in their Shepherd’s Bush scrapyard home, became household favourites for entire generations throughout the 60s and 70s and still they continue to entertain audiences today.

"Marking 60 years since the first ever broadcast, Hambledon Productions and Apollo Theatre Company are breathing life back into the Steptoe household with this fresh and hilarious adaptation of three, original episodes from the long-running smash hit BBC sitcom."

The pair will be dropping by Alvah Parish Hall on Wednesday, September 21 at 7:30pm and Portgordon Village Hall on Friday, September 23 at 7:30pm.

For fans of captivating music and dance, however, international touring outfit 6 Feet 3 Shoes is ready to thrill, visiting the north east as part of their UK-wide 2022 tour.

This heart-warming show from choreographer and dancer Jen Wren has entranced audiences of all ages, from children through to pensioners, from a wide variety of backgrounds.

A poignant story about the ties that bind us and the fantastic outcome of shared cultures, the show is a beautiful blend of Scottish and Spanish cultures.

6 Feet 3 Shoes is a celebration of friendship across borders told through feisty, percussive flamenco, Scottish and contemporary dance, performed by three dancers plus two musicians who play live guitar and fiddle.

Dance, storytelling, song and foot-stomping rhythms bring to life a story that resonates across generations and cultures.

Spanish-Scottish dance and music troupe combine cultures in their varied live shows.

Jen Wren is a multi-skilled international dance artist and creative director.

Born in Scotland but with strong Spanish links, Jen references these cultures in her work, embedding traditional steps and music into productions – accenting these with emotion and a sense of adventure.

Audiences have the opportunity to join the company in post-show events ranging from Q&A’s, Quizzes on themes of the work and a short, fun Ceilidh at the end of the show.
