Teenager in serious condition in hospital

A 25-year-old man is expected to appear in court today following a collision in Nairn.

A black BMW car collided with a tree on the A96 on Inverness Road, near its junction with Pinewood Avenue, around 1.20am on Sunday.

No other vehicles were involved.

The man has been charged with numerous road traffic offences.

Three people were taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital, including an 18-year-old, who was seriously injured and remains in hospital.

The A96 was closed for five hours as a result of the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or with information, is asked to contact Northern Constabulary on 0845 600 5703.
