Nairn line up cup clash with Clach

NAIRN County will face Clach in the quarter-finals of the Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup after their 3-0 home victory against Strathspey Thistle.

Les Fridge’s Nairn, who are in with a chance at winning the league title, recorded their second win against the Jags within seven days as a Robbie Duncasonson double and a Ross Naismith goal saw off the visitors.

Clach booked their place in the last eight thanks to a 5-0 home win against Fort William.

Despite only leading 1-0 against a young side from Lochaber, it was doubles from skipper Gordon Morrison and Sam Urquhart and a goal from Struan Scott-Woodhouse that left the visitors floored.

Holders Buckie Thistle will take on Keith or Rothes after their 5-2 win at Lossiemouth on Saturday.

Steve Paterson’s Formartine United beat 2012 Highland League winners Forres Mechanics 3-1 at Mosset Park to line up a quarter-final against Brora Rangers, who were 2-1 winners at home to Wick Academy.

After a 2-2 draw over 120 minutes, Deveronvale won 3-1 on penalties to see off Fraserburgh in Banff and that means the will take on Inverurie Locos in the quarters following their 6-0 stroll at home to Huntly.
