POLICE in Ross-shire are flagging up traffic restrictions around SPL newcomers Ross County's home ground in the run-up to the new season.

The Dingwall club and Northern Constabulary are seeking to make the public aware of matchday restrictions in a bid to ensure the transition to the top flight is as smooth as possible.

Police say that in the interests of pedestrian safety, all football coaches and football-related motor car access to the stadium car parks will be prohibited within half an hour of the start of any match.

This restriction placed on Ferry Road will be managed by the police.

A Northern Consyabulary spokesman said: "The co-operation of all football supporters is required and they are encouraged to take this into account when making travel arrangements to Victoria Park Stadium.

"Ross County Football Club has made all other football clubs aware of this arrangement to ensure travelling supporter compliance."

The club's general manager, Ranald Gilbert, said: "We have worked closely with Northern Constabulary and formulated a plan for matchdays which not only ensures safety and ease of access and exit of fans attending matches at Victoria Park but also minimises the impact on local residents and the town as a whole."
