Golspie’s Alzheimer Scotland shop “2 Best” donated £50,000 to the charity last year, members heard at their AGM.

This funding will benefit people with dementia and carers through Alzheimer Scotland’s network of services in the region, including a new Dementia Carers Group in Golspie.

Brenda MacMillan and her team, all volunteers, painstakingly sort and prepare for sale donated items of every imaginable type.

She says: “With tremendous support from the public and our team of volunteers, the shop has become such a success and has been able to raise so much valuable funds for Alzheimer Scotland. I want to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all of them.”

The continuation of the shop is dependent on the support of the public, by helping as well as donating and purchasing goods. Helpers are always needed and if you could spare any time at all, maybe to do some ironing or mending or to serve in the shop, you would be made very welcome. Please pop in or contact Brenda MacMillan on 01408 633008.

Alzheimer Scotland say they are also very pleased to announce the start of a new Dementia Carers Group in Golspie.

Anyone who cares for someone with dementia and would like to meet other carers for support, a chat or a brief time away from their caring role will be welcome at the monthly carers’ meetings in Golspie, at the Caberfeidh Hotel from 11am-12.30pm.
