Call a halt to nonsense
Sir – I was astonished to read in this week’s paper (NT January 25th) that there is still controversy going on about the siting of the new equipment at the Ross Street play park in Golspie.
If Councillor Phillips had initially told the few residents who complained that there was nothing that could be done, that would have been an end to it, but oh no his ego would not let him do that. Have the few residents who are still moaning ever considered that there could have been a row of houses built behind them with – God forbid – gardens with children playing in them and making a noise. Maybe even after the curfew that the residents seem to want to set.
Councillor Phillips states "the two heads of services had not visited Golspie merely to attend the meeting but had also inspected damage caused by the recent storm" but I have to wonder what the Head of Legal Services had to do with storm damage? The cost of shifting the equipment would be in the region of £6,500. Surely it is time to call a halt to this nonsense?
