SCOTTISH band Texas are coming to Inverness in November as part of the multi-million selling group’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

The Glasgow band, which will release its brand new studio album The Conversation next Monday, is to perform at Inverness Leisure Centre on Sunday 10th November, as part of Live in the City, a series of one-off, limited capacity concerts.

These include a show by 1980s chart topper Rick Astley the evening before Texas’s show on Saturday 9th November.

"We’re really excited to be playing in Inverness, as part of our UK tour," Texas’ lead singer and guitarist Sharleen Spiteri said.

"It promises to be a great night, with performances of some of our greatest hits as well as our new material."

Texas’s forthcoming album is the band’s first in eight years and is the latest in a career that has seen the band sell over 30 million albums worldwide, among them White on Blonde, The Hush and a successful greatest hits compilation.

The band’s new album is again written and produced by singer/guitarist Sharleen Spiteri and bassist Johnny McElhone and features collaborations with singer-songwriter Richard Hawley and guitarist and producer Bernard Butler.

Les Kidger, director of LCC Live, the event manager of Live in the City, welcomed the addition of one of Scotland’s best known bands to the November line up.

"Texas is a superb addition to the Live in the City line-up, which is shaping up to offer music-lovers in the north of Scotland a memorable weekend of live entertainment," he said.

Tickets go on sale on Friday priced £37 and are available online at www.ticketline.co.uk; by phone at 0844 888 9991 or in person from Caffreys Menswear, Union Street, Inverness.
