Brora man admits local assault

A BRORA man answered a knock at his door late one evening only to be assaulted by the callers.

David Conahan (23), 2 Carrol Crescent, Brora, and another man, pushed their way into Robert Horner’s home at 31 Victoria Crescent and proceeded to beat him up.

“The two men pushed him back into the hall way and punched him repeatedly on the face,” procurator fiscal Roderick Urquhart told Dornoch Sheriff Court yesterday.

“They pushed him into his living room and then continued to punch him about the head and body.”

The incident happened around 11.30pm on Monday, 8th October, last year

Mr Horner suffered a broken nose and two black eyes but did not require medical treatment.

He gave officers a description of his assailants and picked the two men out from photographs shown to him.

Conahan appeared at yesterday’s court to admit the offence.

Sheriff Andrew Berry deferred sentence on Conahan until 8th July for the preparation of social work reports.

Co-accused, Alexander Macrae (43), 9 Victoria Crescent, Brora, is alleged to have committed the assault alongside Conahan.

Macrae failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
