GATECRASHING a party at an Easter Ross seaboard village has landed an pipe fitter with a £375 fine.

Barry Wilson (29) banged on the door of 9 Parkland Place, Balintore, where a birthday party was taking place, at 1am on November 2.

"Mr Wilson had not been invited to the party and was told he couldn’t go in," procurator fiscal Karen Smith told Tain Sheriff Court.

"The householder attempted to shut the door on him but he pushed his way into the property and demanded a drink. He then refused to leave."

Said the fiscal: "The householder and others felt intimidated by his behaviour and thought he was very much under the influence of alcohol."

Police were called and Wilson was arrested.

At the court Wilson, of Hallforest Drive, Kintore, Inverurie, admitted committing a breach of the peace.

Defence agent Stephen Lennon said his client, a pipe fitter at Nigg Energy Park, was a first offender. He had finished work on the night in question and had been drinking in a pub in Balintore before deciding to gatecrash the party.

The lawyer said: "He had far too much to drink. He left the pub and heard a party going on and foolishly decided it would be a good idea to join it."
