Brora withdraw compensation offer to Academy

BRORA Rangers have said that it has withdrawn its offer of compensation to Wick Academy, but have announced that Davie Kirkwood is their new manager.

Chairman John Young rubbished claims that a compensation package had been agreed between the two clubs, saying that its offer was rejected by the Caithness outfit.

A stipulation of Kirkwood's current contract at Academy is that he must give four weeks notice is he wished to leave.

But Mr Young said that the 45-year-old is the man that will replace Andy Macleod at Dudgeon Park, but was unsure when he would be able to officially carry out his duties as manager.

"An offer of compensation was not agreed by the two clubs, so therefore we have withdrawn the offer," he said.

"But as far as we are concerned Davie Kirkwood is the new manager of Brora Rangers, however it is hard to say when he will be taking his first game in charge.

Wick Academy chairman Colin Stewart said that the matter was being dealt with by the club's advisors.
