CALEY Thistle ensured they would be in Scotland's top flight next season after picking up the point required at the expense of relegation-threatened Dunfermline.
Inverness made two changes to the side that had been edged out 4-3 at Kilmarnock on Saturday.
Owain Tudur Jones dropped to the substitutes bench, while Jonny Hayes was suspended after receiving two yellow cards at Rugby Park. Kenny Gillet returned to the starting line-up along with Nick Ross.
Before kick-off a minutes silence was observed in memory of John MacDonald, the Caley Thistle fan who collapsed and died during the match with Kilmarnock.
Inverness manager Terry Butcher had called for the home supporters to get right behind his hosts, but neither side could show a ruthless streak in what was a drab opening 45 minutes.
Ross had a shot from 22 yards that was comfortably held by Pars goalkeeper Chris Smith, diving to his right, while at the other end Kyle Hutton found only the arms of Ryan Esson after being set up by Joe Cardle.
Towards the end of the first half, Jordan McMillan's cross struck the head of Gillet before dropping over the crossbar, but that was about it for notable opportunities.
Caley Thistle did start the second half a bit brighter, Graeme Shinnie just failing to connect properly with his volley 12 yards out.
The same player had an even better chance to score soon after. Greg Tansey's pass sent Billy McKay away down the left and he played the ball back into Shinnie's path only for the Scotland under-21 internationalist to send a low shot from the edge of the box inches past the post.
Inverness were now posing more of a sustained threat and Aaron Doran was not far away from converting Tansey's dangerous low ball across the six-yard box.
Dunfermline, however, showed they were still capable of scoring, Alex Keddie heading narrowly over from Cardle's free-kick.
As the clock counted down, Pars substitute Martin Hardie found space 18 yards out, but his powerful drive was well saved by Esson.
It was to prove the last real chance of the game as the points were shared.
