POLICE have named a man who died in a fall from a Ross-shire mountain at the weekend.

He was 54-year-old David Beattie from Aberdeen.

A search was sparked for Mr Beattie after he failed to return from a walking expedition in the Fannich hills, south of Braemore near Ullapool, on Sunday.

Members of Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team assisted by an RAF Mountain Rescue Team and a helicopter were involved in the operation.

Rescuers recovered his body on Sunday afternoon.
