Super Lossie stun Jags
LOSSIEMOUTH started 2014 with a bang with a superb performance as they dumped Buckie Thistle 3-1.
Just a week after being thrashed 4-0 by the Jags, struggling Lossie showed a real desire to upset the odds.
"We wanted a response from them and we got that. We were the better side and deserved to win," said boss Stevie Dunn.
"We looked hungrier than them especially after last week when we let ourselves down.
"Hopefully we can take a step forward now. We have proved we can do it.
"I told them before the game that it is a new year and a new start; let's just go for it.
"Buckie are a good side but we were better than them today."
Buckie boss Gary Hake said: "After we scored the goal we were poor. Credit to Lossie; they wanted it more than we did.
"I think we thought we just had to turn up today to get a result compared to last week when we worked hard for our victory.
"That's probably the worst performance since I have been manager of the club and I have told the players that."
There was no hint of danger when Aaron Conway headed Buckie into the lead after 21 minutes, converting a good cross by Liam Baxter.
However, Lossie grew in confidence as the first half wore on and Darren Bailley fired home a terrific equaliser right on the stroke of half-time.
As the rain came down at the start of the second half, Lossie looked the hungrier team and more up for the challenge.
Teenager Jordan McBain fired them ahead in the 57th minute after poor Buckie defending from a ball into the box.
Lossie had a let off when Andy Low's header was cleared by Liam Archibald and the ball looked to have crossed the line.
Moments later McBain rattled a shot against the crossbar as Lossie pressed at the other end.
The Coasters sealed the points with 16 minutes remaining when Ryan Farquhar's cross was headed home by McBain.
Buckie huffed and puffed towards the end but could not find a way past a resolute Lossiemouth rearguard.
There were great scenes at the end as Lossie celebrated only their fourth league win of the season in 21 games.

Forres Mechanics took the lead at home to Nairn County with a Craig McGovern effort early in the second half. Gregg Main was sent off after picking up two quick yellow cards for Nairn.
However, Stuart Leslie levelled with 12 minutes remaining and despite being down to 10 men, Archie MacPhee grabbed a winner for the visitors.
Keith were also beaten 2-1 at home by Huntly. Stuart Massie had given the Maroons a 14th minute lead but nine minutes later Andy Kleczkowski levelled. David Booth got the winner on the hour.
Rothes were twice behind at fellow strugglers Strathspey Thistle before running out 5-2 winners in Grantown.
The game between Wick Academy and Brora Rangers was postponed just half an hour before kick off due to a waterlogged pitch.
