TEAMS from Fortrose Academy and Plockton High joined counterparts from across the North as they set out their stalls to put their enterprising schemes to the ultimate test.

The pupils were taking part in the annual Young Enterprise Christmas trade fair in Inverness, sponsored by Highland Council and Lifescan (Scotland).

Fortrose picked up an extra award on the day winning the prize for most enthusiastic team with their coat hanger connectors.

Under The Young Enterprise Company programme, young people aged 16 to 19 set up and run their own small business. Highland and Moray teams are up against schools from across Scotland as trade fairs are held all over the country in a competition similar to the BBC’s The Young Apprentice.

The Young Enterprise programme runs from August to April each year with guidance from teachers, volunteer business advisers from the local community and an area board.

Linda Thomas, Chair of the Highland and Moray Board said: "Once again this year our judges were immensely impressed by the talents and resourcefulness of the teams taking part.

"The trade fair is a great way for young people to learn about marketing and selling their products to the public and they certainly rose to the challenge."

Pupils from Plockton were selling Christmas table decorations.
