Three people cut free following A96 car smash

THREE casualties had be cut free following a car crash in which it is believed one person lost an arm.

Seven people in total were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.

Their conditions are not known at this time.

The two vehicle incident happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday on the A96 at the Balloch junction just east of Inverness.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service sent two appliances and a heavy rescue vehicle to the scene which involved a Ford Fiesta and a Rover.

A spokesman for the service told the HN: "We had to use hydraulic tools to extricate three occupants. These people were then dealt with by the ambulance service. We arrived on scene at 7.30pm and were here until 9.30pm."

The road was shut for around two hours and traffic was diverted via Croy.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: "We had a number of ambulances at the scene and we conveyed the casualties to Raigmore Hospital."

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident and can be contacted by calling 101.
