IT was perhaps written in the script that man of the moment Richard Brittain would play a significant role in Ross County's visit to St Johnstone - which ended a 2-2 draw.

The Dingwall side’s captain, who signed a pre-contract agreement with the Saints earlier in the season, has since controversially let it be known he wants out of that deal.

Manager Derek Adam’s decision to keep faith with his captain appeared to be bear fruit with Brittain slotting two penalties during the encounter.

The away day got off to a bad start from a County perspective with St Johnstone taking the lead through a Steven Maclean headed goal after just five minutes.

Brittain’s penalty less than 10 minutes later came after a foul by Steven Anderson on Iain Vigurs.

But the Perth Saints took the lead again on 24 minutes with another ehaded goal from inside the penalty area, this one by Murray Davidson.

Ross County, who enjoyed greater possession and more shots on target, drew level 30 minutes into the second half through another Brittain spot kick. This one came after the referee spotted an unfair challenge on Ivan Sproule by Thomas Scobbie.

The 2-2 draw left Ross County in fifth place in the SPL, a point behind their hosts today and five adrift of their third-placed Highland rivals who were defeated 4-1 by newly crowned champions, Celtic, today.
