The Kyle of Sutherland Youth Development Group in Bonar Bridge has been given a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).

It will help them investigate options for building a new Highlands youth and community space, providing social and recreational activities. The grant will fund professional fees and consultations with local people.

The award is one of 17 being made through BIG’s Investing in Ideas programme which provides grants of between £500 and £10,000 to test and develop ideas that could eventually become fully fledged projects.

The scheme can fund a wide variety of activities including market research, public consultations and feasibility studies.

Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, Maureen McGinn, said: "Sometimes groups need extra help to translate exciting ideas into detailed proposals for funding. Thanks to Investing in Ideas, we can offer them support at an early stage to test if a project is practical and will deliver positive change in the longer term. This little bit of timely help can often make the greatest difference. So we wish all of these innovative projects the greatest of success as they begin to turn their project ideas into reality."
