DEVERONVALE captain and central defender Scott Fraser is hoping to return to first team action before Christmas.
The fans’ favourite has been battling with a groin injury and has been out for seven weeks.
He also had problems with the injury last year, the only cure for it being complete rest.
He said: "I am back in the gym now so that, combined with a full week of training and some reserve games, will hopefully make sure there is no repeat of the injury flaring up again.
"All being well I will be back in action before Christmas but I will rely on the advice of our physio, Albert Cran, to guide me on when I can make my return.
"It is one of those injuries which if you keep playing it just gets worse and I have to make sure it is 100% right this time before I try to return.
"It’s been frustrating not being able to continue my defensive partnership with Scott Henry, who has been exceptional this season."
With Fraser on the sidelines, Deveronvale have been lacking vital experience in their recent games but Fraser said it gives his younger team-mates the opportunity to learn and develop.
He added: "We have struggled to have a regular starting line-up in the past few weeks and it has shown in our results.
"But our win at Fort William followed by the victory at Keith will hopefully get us back on track.
"In the first half of the latter game we were poor, but we showed what we are capable of in the second half with all five of our goals coming from what is an extremely young midfield trio in Graeme Rodger, Craig Cowie and Colin Charlesworth.
"We are a young team and we are going to miss experienced players such as myself and others who have also been injured.
"People think that just because we are Deveronvale we are expected to win games on a regular basis, but the young players who are playing need a little bit of time to adjust to the demands of what is always a very competitive league."
Deveronvale’s away trip to Inverurie Locos last Saturday was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Harlaw Park.
However, there was no rest for the players and management staff with a training session at Banff Links and Duff House grounds.
This Saturday, weather permitting, Deveronvale welcome Strathspey Thistle to Princess Royal Park
