Foul smell sees show descend into chaos
LEAKS, electrical failure and a putrid smell are blighting the hall at a Moray secondary, it has been claimed.
Calls for urgent action at Lossiemouth High School came this week after a long-standing issue with the performance hall’s roof reached an “uncomfortable” climax.
A public show on Sunday descended into chaos as the main entry had to be closed off, dancers dodged buckets placed around the room, and pools of water strewed the floor.
Audience members and those participating in Rock Academy’s ‘We Care’ performance further endured a foul, inescapable, “fishy stench”.
“I think, to be honest with you, it got to such a stage that we began to laugh about it a little bit,” said the performance academy’s director Tish Tindall, “We had no choice.”
Heldon and Laich councillor Carolle Ralph, who was in the audience, said she was “personally embarrassed” by the hall’s condition and called for immediate action.
“I’ve been trying to get answers because it is a long-standing problem which renders the hall useless at times,” the councillor told a meeting of the local authority’s audit and performance review committee on Wednesday.
