Sir - Regarding Mr Kenny MacDonald`s letter in last week`s Northern Times under the above quote, I can give Mr MacDonald and your readers clarity on why Mr John Thurso didn`t vote in the Marriage (same sex couple) Bill as he sent me an email in response to my email to him. The Liberal Democrats wanted to show a united front in favour of the Bill. Mr Thurso wanted to vote against the Bill and discussed this with his Chief Whip who advised him to be absent from the House, so that he wouldn`t be able to vote !
So much for a free vote on this subject !.
