A RECORD turnout of members and public attended the Society of Caithness Artists’ AGM at the Pentland Hotel in Thurso on Monday.

The representation of art in Caithness was the focus of the meeting with the society’s annual exhibition being the launch pad for many budding artists in the county.

Last year’s event saw 101 artists display 345 exhibits with sales topping £12,000.

This year’s exhibition will begin on Tuesday, July 23, closing on August 3 with handing in day for artists to submit work on July 20.

The meeting saw chairman Ian Pearson and treasurer Kitty Watt remain in post for their respective positions.
