LOCAL clubs and volunteers who work with young golfers have the chance to be honoured in Scottish Golf’s RBS junior golf and volunteer of the year awards.

Nominations are invited for the accolades which seek to encourage youngsters to take up and progress in the sport through the clubgolf initiative.

In the club section, there is a £1000 prize for the winning facility plus funds available to three runners-up, so there is plenty of incentive to enter and help to win funds for your own club’s junior section.

The aim is to recognise success, development and innovative ideas throughout 2011.

The search is also on to find the very first Scottish Golf’s RBS golf volunteer of the year.

With a fantastic prize fund up for grabs for the winner and their club or facility, the aim is to recognise the contribution of the game’s unsung heroes, from volunteer coaches to devoted committee members, who have made a significant difference to the game of golf locally.

Prizes will be awarded at the Annodata Scottish Golf awards dinner to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on March 23.

Nomination forms can be downloaded at www.clubgolfscotland-youth.co.uk

They can then be e-mailed to sgu@scottishgolf.org or sent by post to Scottish Golf Union at The Dukes, St Andrews, KY16 8NX.
