THE commander of Wattisham Flying Station near Ipswich and his 15-year-old-son have turned pedal power into hard cash on a cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity.

Colonel Neale Moss, the fundraising director for the Afghan Appeal Fund, took a leaf out of his own book by boosting the coffers of the charity he helped to launch. And he was helped along the way by his son, Adam.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this summer, the AAF, run by British soldiers’ families and friends, aims to highlight the plight of the people in Afghanistan, particularly children.

To date the charity has raised over £300,000, built five schools and has another three projects on the way.
