Book sale underway to boost the Groat’s charity drive
A FUNDRAISING book sale kicks off today at North of Scotland Newspapers – home of the Caithness Courier and the John O’Groat Journal.
Some real bargains are to be found among the huge selection of books on sale, costing from as little as 50p. There is something to suit every taste from crime fiction to birdwatching, romantic novels to travel, and every genre in between. All the proceeds will be added to the thousands of pounds already collected from the generous Caithness public and will be going to the paper’s Charity of the Year initiative – to benefit the Thrumster Park Regeneration Fund, Thurso Youth FC and Keiss Family Community Project.
The event is the second last hurrah for NOSN’s Charity of the Year – which will be rounded up with a sponsored walk on Sunday, August 26 from the historic home of the Groat, in Union Street, Wick, to the Smiddy Inn, Thrumster.
NOSN Advertisement Manager Sheona Campbell said: “ Ever mindful of road safety we plan to take the back route via Milton and Tannach and anyone from these groups is welcome to join us for the walk to bring our year’s fundraising to a conclusion.” Sponsorship forms are available from the Groat office for anyone willing to help with the final push.
