HIGHLAND finally reach the end of a mixed season with their final match away to Gordonians in Caledonia Regional League Division One tomorrow.

It has been a struggle to keep the players at training given the scattering of matches towards the end of the campaign, but first-team coach Craig Douglas will still want to end the campaign on a positive note, while Gordonians will also be keen for a win to ensure they avoid the relegation slot.

With no injury doubts, Highland should have a very strong squad for the trip, although some members of the Reds could be called in if availability is a problem.

Skipper Ross Thomson will lead from number eight knowing only too well that the Aberdeen side have already gotten the better of the Greens twice this season.

The Reds do not have their last match until next Saturday, but this weekend they will know better what they have to do to take the Caledonia Regional League Division Three North/West title.

If Ross Sutherland can restrict Stornoway to a win without a bonus point in Lewis then Highland’s second string can top the table with a bonus point win over Ross Sutherland in their final match.

Meanwhile, Highland’s under-18s play the last game of their hardfought Champions League campaign when they host unbeaten Stirling County tomorrow.

Coach John Carson has been building his squad up for this last encounter and the players have responded well through the experience of playing at a higher level. The goal will be to take some credit from the match, if not to pull off a bit of a surprise.

Highland under-15s take a break after qualifying for the semi-finals of the Caledonia Cup with a tour to the south of France.

The youngsters have a couple of matches against some top French sides and the trip will be a great experience for all concerned.

An under-12 side from Highland is also getting ready for their trip to the annual London Irish International Mini Tournament where they are regular visitors.
