AN INVERGORDON man who flouted a court order forbidding him to contact a woman has been spared his liberty.

Euan Haywood (43) had been remanded in custody on his last appearance at Tain Sheriff Court for breaching bail conditions and an order of court which prohibited him from contacting an Alness woman.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood called for background reports and told him: "Bail means nothing to you."

But when Haywood appeared at the court for sentencing this week he was given a community payback order of one year.

Haywood had earlier admitted breaching bail conditions imposed at the court on July 18 by being at an address at Kilmuir Place, Invergordon which he was told not to enter, and failing to answer police who called at his home after a curfew at 10.15pm on July 31.

Haywood also admitted sending text messages to a woman living in Westford, Alness, on July 22 despite an interdict being in place prohibiting him from contacting her.
