HIGHLAND Council has confirmed that the rockfall hit A890 road at Stromeferry will reopen in both directions from 5pm tonight (Thursday).

Contractors TRAC were on site from 8am this morning and were able to remove the 15 tonnes of rock which tumbled down onto the road at 9.30am on Christmas Day as well as 50 tonnes of loose and dangerous rockface.

Engineers who inspected the site are satisfied that it is now safe to reopen the road.
