MAIL deliveries in Caithness and across the UK will be disrupted next month after Royal Mail staff voted to go on strike as a result of the organisation being privatised.
78% of staff have voted in favour of strike action in a move which they say is aimed at protecting jobs, terms and conditions and securing a pay rise following the organisation being floated on the stock exchange.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is allowing two weeks to reach an agreement but has also announced that strike action will take place on Monday, November 4 if no agreement is concluded by that date.
