A FULL-SCALE search has been launched in the remote Knoydart area west of Invergarry following the discovery of missing Inverness journalist Clive Dennier’s car.

Northern Constabulary have confirmed that the car was located this morning as part of their co-ordinated search strategy for Mr Dennier who was reported missing when he failed to turn up for work on Monday.

Mr Dennier (50), of Cromwell Court, Shore Street, Inverness, was due to have been at the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald office in Grantown on Spey and worried colleagues posted him missing when, unusually, he did not appear.

Following the discovery of his silver VW Polo on the isolated peninsula, car a full-scale search and rescue mission was mounted involving two mountain rescue teams, and police search dogs.

Mr Dennier, a keen hill walker, had intended to go walking with a colleage, Eilidh Davies, last Saturday but she called off with a cold.

He did not tell anyone of his plans, but a search of his flat revealed all his hill walking gear, except for his boots and jacket were still there meaning he would be ill-equipped if he had ventured out alone.

A police spokesman said: "Mr Dennier’s family have been updated. This remains a very anxious time for them and they ask that their privacy is respected."
