Tragedy spurs message of hope

A COUPLE who tragically lost one of their twin boys after they were born prematurely are ­aiming to provide hope for other ­parents who are faced with a similar ordeal.

Jack Cox (31), formerly of Portsoy, and his fiancée, Kirsty Bishop (32), were shocked when she went into labour at 24 weeks.

Her boys, Aiden and Kai, were born weighing 1lb 9oz and 1lb 10oz respectively, and were worked on by two teams of ­doctors at the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit.

Minutes after their birth in December, 2010, the couple ­received the devastating news that Aiden had passed away, but there was still hope for Kai.

For 14 weeks the little fighter was treated and cared for by the unit’s staff, and was eventually able to go home.
