A BODY has been found in the wake of a search for a man posted missing by police in the Highlands.

Police in Inverness had declared themselves “increasingly concerned” about the welfare of Alexander Iain Prentice (53), who had been reported missing.

Mr Prentice, an employee at Inverness Airport, was last seen on Friday morning at his place of work.

Police and partner agencies launched co-ordinated searches of Dalcross and the surrounding areas on Saturday morning after the alarm was raised.

In a statement issued later on Saturday afternoon, police confirmed that searches had been concluded after a body was found in the Dalcross area.

A report on the circumstances is being prepared for the procurator fiscal.

Rescue teams and members of the public who responded to the earlier appeals and assisted with information were thanked for their support.
